The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ITCCK) in collaboration with Jeonbuk Provincial Government held an online cooking class on November 21st.
The event was part of the World Week of Italian Cuisine which is the annual thematic event dedicated to the promotion of Italian cuisine and quality food products, organized by Italian Embassy and all related organizations abroad.
Above all, this cooking class was very meaningful in that it was conducted with agricultural products that have received PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) or PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) certification, from each country. By providing information on PDO and PGI standing for high quality, easy traceability, we can help consumers make informed decision and conscious consumption when purchasing either Korean or Italian products.
Chef Paolo de Maria, the owner of Paolo De Maria Fine Trattoria and director of IFSE Korea, an Italian culinary school, developed and demonstrated new recipes using certified ingredients from Italy and Korea. The participants received the same ingredient package before the event so they could follow the chef's instruction and cook simultaneously.
Barley and walnuts from Jeonbuk, Parma ham and mascarpone cheese from Italy were used for a cold salad and Jeonbuk’s rice and Chateau Muju red wine with Gorgonzola and Parmigiano Reggiano for an amazing risotto!
The combination of these Italian and Korea ingredients was outstanding and everyone enjoyed these perfect dishes.
