The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ITCCK) is proud to have been represented by its Vice President, Alberto Mondi, at the National Tourism Strategy Meeting held at the Blue House in Seoul and presided over by President Lee Jae-myung on Wednesday, February 25.
The meeting, the first to be chaired directly by the President in seven years, brought together approximately 50 leading public and private sector experts to discuss Korea’s national strategy to attract 30 million international visitors before 2030. Vice President Mondi was notably the only foreign representative invited to participate.
His presence reflects his long-standing visibility and contribution to the promotion of Korea internationally. Alberto Mondi served as Brand Ambassador for the “Visit Korea Year” campaign and has been a television host for eight years on a program dedicated to foreigners experiencing Korea for the first time, helping showcase Korean culture to global audiences.
During the meeting, the government outlined measures to strengthen the tourism sector, including visa facilitation policies, the expansion of regional airport routes, improved entry procedures, and efforts to eliminate unfair practices affecting visitors. President Lee emphasized the importance of ensuring that the growth of tourism benefits local small businesses across the country and supports regional development beyond Seoul.
ITCCK considers Vice President Mondi’s participation a meaningful recognition of the Chamber’s institutional role within Korea’s economic ecosystem. As tourism is a strategic sector with wide economic impact, the Chamber will continue to foster bilateral exchange and new opportunities for cooperation between Italy and Korea.
